Andre Dubus: Tributes
Published in Paperback by Xavier Review Press (15 December, 2001)
Average review score:

Moving tribute to an important American writerAndre Dubus wrote what is arguably the best short fiction of our generation. His stories are powerful and stay with the reader long after the book has been closed. The same is true of this book of tributes. Andre Dubus 111 wrote the foreword to the collection, a beautiful tribute to his relationship with his father. Tobias Wolff wrote the afterword. In between these pieces the book is filled with brief, intensely personal stories of the impact Andre had on people's lives. Contributors include Lee K. Abbott, Frederick Busch, James Lee Burke, Chris Offutt, Robert Olmstead, Tim Parrish, and many other fine writers. This book is an essential part of Andre's work, and should be read by anyone who admires his fiction.

Anna's Garden Songs
Published in Hardcover by Greenwillow (March, 1989)
Average review score:

"Anna's Garden Songs" great for gardening parents and kidsWhat a lovely book! The pictures are detailed, accurate and entrancing, and the poems are amusing and show a deep love for gardening and family. Anna, her brother Peter, her friends and her Grandfather have all sorts of fun in the garden and orchard. Usually, each page describes a specific vegetable. My daughter loves the entry on cabbages -- especially Grandfather's rampage on the caterpillars that eat them. "He yelled so loud, he scared the cat!" Read the poems, enjoy the pictures, then go out in the garden and see how they compare to real life. This book is a great way to get little children interested in gardening (we've been borrowing it from the library since my daughter was two, and I'm so glad to see Amazon has it so we can get a copy to keep), and parents won't get bored with it either. The more we read it, the more we love it. Try it out yourself!

Published in Hardcover by David Bateman Ltd (01 September, 1998)
Average review score:

Antonovs over the ArticAntonovs over the Arctic is an inspiring book, written in a very entertaining way. Definitely the right reading material for young explorers or those of us, who were still in need of proof that all is possible, if only you want it hard enough. The photographs are breathtakingly beautiful. All in all, the reader is left with a feeling of having been a member of this adventure seeking crew of six young man.

The Aquinas Prayer Book: The Prayers and Hymns of St. Thomas Aquinas
Published in Paperback by Sophia Inst Pr (September, 2000)
Average review score:

An outstanding little devotional. . .. . .containing many of the beloved prayers and Eucharistic hymns of St. Thomas Aquinas. The volume is arranged with a section of prayers for various occasions, followed by a section of prayers relating to the Eucharist, followed by a section of Thomas's Corpus Christi hymns, followed by a prayer at time of death.
All selections are given with the Latin text on the left and the English text on the right. For the record, the English-language texts represent a different translation than the ones familiar to Anglo-Catholics as represented in, say, the 1940 hymnal.
Altogether, a very nice and accessible devotional.
Five stars.

The Art of American Indian Cooking

A Delacacy for both the Mind and the StomachThis cookbook is a wonderful source of knowledge in addition to recipes. The recipes are easy to follow and many are delicious. Even my children who are at times picky eaters enjoyed tasting and helping prepare the recipes. We used the book as a resource while doing a research paper on Iroquios food. We learned alot from reading the information and found it to be written very well.
